Transition Information

For students with an IEP, the IEP must include post-secondary transition planning starting at age 14 in Utah (16 elsewhere). The transition plans are based on student goals for post-secondary training, education, employment, and independent living and what transition services may be required to assist students in meeting those goals.

Some transition goals/services can be met through the regular education Plan for Career and College Readiness (PCCR – formerly SEOP) with school counselors and through regularly offered school programs. Other transition goals may require specialized transition services and supports, which are often provided by vocational rehabilitation or similar entities.

Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS)

Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) are offered to any student with a disability (ages 14-21) to assist with exploring and planning for successful future employment. Targeted skills include career exploration, workplace readiness, counseling on postsecondary education, self-advocacy, and work-based learning. Click the link below to watch an informative video about Pre-ETS services.

Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Counselors and Pre-ETS instructors attend IEPs, conduct Job Readiness workshops at InTech, and provide one-on-one counseling and coordination services. The VR Counselor for InTech students is Darci Ostergar – dostergar@utah.gov.

USU EmployAbility Clinic is a community partner with VR and a provider for specific Pre-ETS services authorized by VR.
